NURSING (BASIC or GENERIC)

The information in this guide is subject to change. The universities may require additional lower division courses beyond those listed or articulated. For CSUs and UCs, the information is based on 2015-16 articulation agreements, and the most recent articulation information is available at www.assist.org. See Independent California Colleges & Universities articulation agreements for Agreements for Dominican, Loma Linda, and PUC.  Each university has specific admission criteria, so it is essential to review a current catalog or nursing department Web site of the campus of your choice and consult with a counselor.

The Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing may be earned by completing the clinical portion of the nursing curriculum at a four-year college or university, or students may complete an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) and then enroll in a degree completion program (see separate transfer major guide for NURSING (ADN TO BSN). Several CSU campuses, UCLA, and some independent California colleges and universities offer the basic nursing program that includes the clinical portion of the nursing education. A valuable source for information on nursing programs is the California Board of Registered Nursing.

Nursing program applicants may be required to complete the pre-admission Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS). Check with the college or university.

In addition to the universities listed below, the Nursing major is offered at CSU Bakersfield, Channel Islands, Dominguez Hills, Fullerton, Los Angeles, San Bernardino, San Marcos, & Stanislaus and at UC Irvine. See www.assist.org or the specific college catalog or Web site for information.

The basic nursing programs are impacted at all CSU campuses for 2013-2014. For the most accurate and up-to-date information, visit the specific CSU campus website at www.calstate.edu. Applicants to nursing programs must file a supplementary application with the nursing department by established deadlines at each campus.
